The Brief
A whole-home renovation in Brighton called for a cohesive approach across multiple spaces — kitchen, laundry, and three bathrooms — all needing to feel connected while each serving their own distinct purpose. Working closely with interior designer Sharna Seymour of Saint Design Interiors and builder Daniel Jeffery from Optimum Renovations, Axis Kitchens was brought in to deliver the cabinetry and joinery across the entire home.
The Design
The kitchen and laundry share a unified foundation: a 20mm shaker profile door by Tesrol, finished in Dulux Vivid White satin polyurethane. It's a classic combination — the shaker profile adds just enough detail to avoid feeling flat, while the Vivid White finish keeps everything crisp and bright.
Where the two rooms diverge is in the stone. The kitchen benchtops and splashbacks are finished in Lavistone Bescato Mavro, a dramatic veined stone that adds striking contrast against the white cabinetry. The laundry takes a softer approach with Lavistone Carrara Lux — still refined, but with a lighter, more understated character that suits the space perfectly.
Both rooms feature Touch Handles 'Kenley' hardware, custom finished by Optimum Renovations to match the client's tapware — a considered detail that ties the joinery seamlessly into the broader interior.
The three bathrooms continue the Lavistone Bescato Mavro on the benchtops, maintaining consistency with the kitchen across the home. The vanity cabinetry takes a different direction however, specified in Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt in a Sussex profile from their Thermolaminated range — bringing warmth and natural texture into the bathrooms that balances beautifully against the stone.
The Result
With the Steel Ascot upright stove the final piece still to arrive, this Brighton home is nearly complete — and it already speaks for itself.
