Kitchen, Pantry & Laundry Renovation: Ringwood North

The Brief

When clients return for their third renovation, it says everything about the relationship built over time, and this Ringwood North project is a wonderful example of exactly that. Working once again with the talented Bianca Miranda of Bianca Miranda Interiors, this kitchen, pantry, and laundry renovation involved careful floor plan thinking from the outset. The spaces were relatively compact, and making the most of every centimetre required the kind of considered, experienced design conversation that only comes from a team who know each other's thinking well. The result was more than worth the effort.

The Design

The kitchen is anchored by Polytec Surano doors in Boston Oak Woodmatt; a beautifully grained, warm timber-look finish that gives the space a rich, natural quality entirely in keeping with the home's period character and original timber floors. To prevent the all-timber palette from feeling flat, satin black polyurethane shaker elements are introduced to break up the cabinetry and blend seamlessly with the new black sliding door - a considered detail that adds contrast and keeps the kitchen feeling contemporary rather than rustic. Black-framed glass overhead cabinets complete the overhead joinery, their open display adding a gallery-like quality to the cooking zone.

Stone Ambassador Vasari in Essence Matte runs across the benchtops and splashbacks in all three rooms; a striking white marble-look surface with bold veining that provides a dramatic counterpoint to the warmth of the Boston Oak. Castella Strand handles and knobs in Matt Black appear throughout, tying the hardware to the black elements in the kitchen and maintaining a cohesive design thread across all three spaces.

Storage is handled with real intelligence throughout. A Hafele Le-Mans II corner unit makes full use of the kitchen's corner space, while the innovative waste management solution introduced in a previous Axis Kitchens project makes another appearance here: a Hideaway Bins Concelo pull-out twin bin with two 15-litre pails for food scraps and general waste, combined with a generous drawer below fitted with the clients' own recycling tub. Clean, practical, and perfectly suited to how modern households actually manage their waste. Hafele Loox LED strip lighting illuminates the underside of the pantry overheads, casting a warm glow across the beautifully organised open shelving above.

The pantry is a standout space. Boston Oak Woodmatt cabinetry below and black-carcassed open shelving above - fitted with Boston Oak shelves — creates a dramatic, layered look that is both highly functional and genuinely beautiful to look at. The laundry, the smallest of the three spaces, keeps the Boston Oak Woodmatt in flat-face doors for a cleaner, more streamlined finish that suits the compact room perfectly.

The Result

Three spaces, one cohesive design language, and a result that genuinely exceeds what the footprint might have suggested was possible. This Ringwood North renovation is a testament to what great design thinking, a trusted client relationship, and careful material selection can achieve, and we're already looking forward to number four.
