The Brief

This Mount Evelyn kitchen and pantry renovation is one of those projects where the client's own eye for detail makes the finished result something really special. Completed earlier in the year, the brief called for a fresh, considered renovation across both the kitchen and pantry — spaces that needed to work together seamlessly while each serving their own distinct purpose. The result is a renovation we're genuinely proud of, full of thoughtful details and a few solutions we'll be carrying forward into future projects.

The Design

Both the kitchen and pantry are finished in Polytec Blossom White Matt melamine — a soft, warm white that avoids the starkness of a bright white finish while keeping the spaces feeling light and open. Stone Ambassador Marbella benchtops run throughout, providing a refined stone surface with just enough movement to feel considered alongside the cabinetry. Stefano Orlati Titanium Grey handles tie neatly into the clients' Buildmat Bunmetal Madison sink and Nero tapware, creating a cohesive metallic thread across the kitchen. Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt laminated feature shelving adds warmth and natural texture — a grounding detail that lifts the palette beautifully.

Storage and functionality were given equal attention throughout. A Kessebohmer Le-Mans II corner unit maximises what is often the most awkward space in any kitchen, while Hafele Loox 5 LED strip lighting illuminates both the kitchen and pantry with a warm, practical glow. One of the standout features of the pantry is the addition of a dedicated second rangehood positioned above the clients' Thermomix — a genuinely clever solution for serious home cooks that keeps cooking odours contained and the main kitchen fresher for longer.

The waste management solution is perhaps the most innovative detail of the project, and one we expect to incorporate more frequently going forward. Rather than a standard bin configuration, we installed a twin 15-litre pull-out bin for food scraps and general waste, with a generous drawer below fitted with the clients' own plastic tub for recycling. Simple, practical, and perfectly suited to evolving council waste requirements — the feedback from the clients has been entirely positive, and it's a solution that addresses a genuine gap in how kitchen waste is typically handled in compact spaces.

The Result

A kitchen and pantry renovation full of personality, practicality, and detail. From the Thermomix rangehood to the innovative waste system, this Mount Evelyn project pushed us to think creatively about how a kitchen can be tailored to the way a family actually lives — and the result is all the better for it.
