The Brief

When you've already helped a client transform one room in their home, being invited back to tackle another is one of the best endorsements there is. Having completed a laundry renovation for this Warranwood family the previous year, we were delighted when they returned to us to design and renovate their kitchen. The brief was familiar in spirit — make the most of the space available — but the kitchen brought its own unique set of challenges, including an irregular footprint and existing timber floors that had been laid after the original kitchen was removed, making integration a key consideration from the outset.

The Design

With the layout fixed by the existing floor and services, the design focus shifted to maximising every corner and run of the kitchen. A Hafele Comfort II pull-out to the right of the hotplate zone puts everything within easy reach when cooking, while a Hafele Le-Mans II unit makes full and elegant use of what would otherwise be a dead corner. These aren't just practical additions — they're the difference between a kitchen that works adequately and one that works brilliantly.

Hafele Loox LED strip lighting with an integrated dimmer adds another layer of considered functionality. Soft and atmospheric when entertaining, bright and practical when working in the kitchen after dark — a small detail that genuinely changes how the space feels at different times of day.

The material palette is refined and cohesive. Laminex Pearl Grey joinery provides a calm, sophisticated base, while Kethy 'Pinto' Walnut handles introduce a warm timber note that ties the new cabinetry back to the existing floors — a detail that makes the kitchen feel like it belongs in the home rather than having been dropped into it. Stone Ambassador Zenith Perla Venata, installed by Melbourne Marble & Granite, finishes the benchtops with a soft, veined elegance. The stone runs through to an undermount sink, a waterfall end panel, and the splashbacks — a seamless, considered application that gives the kitchen a genuinely premium feel.

The Result

An irregular space, beautifully resolved. This Warranwood kitchen is now as functional as it is refined — a room that works hard during the week and entertains effortlessly on weekends. We're proud to have earned the trust of this client twice over, and we look forward to working with them again.
