Kitchen + Whole House Renovation: Belgrave South
Project – Kitchen, Pantry, Laundry & Vanity Cabinets
Suburb – Belgrave South
Designer – Chris Wing Shing
Builder – KBS Developments
The Brief
Another rewarding whole-home collaboration with the team at KBS Developments, this Belgrave South project began with a kitchen, walk-in pantry, and laundry renovation — and grew during the specification process to include three custom vanity cabinets across the home's bathrooms. It's the kind of scope expansion that happens when a client sees the potential of a cohesive, considered approach applied across every room, and the result speaks for itself.
The Design
The kitchen and laundry share a unified material palette that sets the tone for the whole home. Polytec Blossom White Matt and Verdelho Smooth doors provide a soft, layered foundation — two distinct finishes that work together beautifully, avoiding the flatness of a single-tone approach without sacrificing cohesion. Touch Handles Ferrara lip pulls in Matt White keep the hardware understated and elegant, sitting flush with the overall palette.
YDL Summer Breeze benchtops run through both the kitchen and laundry, providing a consistent surface that ties the two spaces together. Polytec Boston Oak Woodmatt makes its first appearance here as feature floating shelves in the kitchen and laundry, and carries through into the pantry benchtops — a warm, natural thread woven through the heart of the home.
In the three bathrooms, the Boston Oak Woodmatt continues across all vanity cabinets, maintaining the material consistency established in the main living spaces. YDL Summer Breeze benchtops again provide continuity, while the bathrooms are given their own distinct character through ABI Elsa brushed brass knobs and feature wall mirrors with recessed LED strip lighting — a warm, considered finish that elevates each space beyond the functional.
The Result
With our clients now settled in and enjoying their new home, this Belgrave South renovation is a great example of what whole-home thinking can achieve. Every room feels connected, every material decision deliberate. There's already talk of a future home office joinery and storage project — and we can't wait to get back in.
