Brighton East Kitchen Renovation

The Brief

When Daniel of Optimum Renovations brought us into this Brighton East project, the brief was one we know well and love: a young family outgrowing their home, looking to create more space, better flow, and rooms that actually work for the way they live. We recommended Jenefer Macleod of eat.bathe.live for the kitchen, bathroom, and ensuite designs — a collaboration that proved inspired from the very first conversation.

The Design

The kitchen transformation begins with a single bold decision: the removal of the servery wall between the kitchen and living room. What had been two separate, enclosed spaces became one generous, light-filled open living area — the kind of change that fundamentally shifts how a family experiences their home. More light, more connection, more room to breathe.

Within the kitchen itself, clean contemporary lines establish a spacious, functional workspace. Albedor Sheree shaker profile doors in 30% satin Dulux Vivid White polyurethane bring a classic yet modern quality to the cabinetry, while the island bench takes a contrasting direction with 30% satin Dulux Black Caviar polyurethane doors — a considered choice that echoes the dark glass of the wall oven and the black trivets on the cooktop, drawing these elements into a cohesive visual conversation. 40mm Caesarstone Snow benchtops provide a generous, luminous surface throughout, and Maximum Porcelain Sheet splashbacks in Calcutta by Artedomus add a refined, large-format stone aesthetic that elevates the kitchen to something genuinely special.

The bathroom required a more structural solution. By combining the existing bathroom and separate toilet into a single room, space was unlocked for both a separate shower and bath — a transformation that makes the room not just more beautiful but fundamentally more functional for a family with young children. Monaco Oak Likewood doors bring warmth and a natural timber quality to the space, grounded by 20mm Caesarstone Fresh Concrete benchtops.

The ensuite completes the renovation with Dulux Vivid White 30% satin polyurethane doors, Fresh Concrete benchtops carried over from the bathroom for quiet material consistency, and a Monaco Oak Likewood open feature shelf that introduces the same warm timber note — connecting the two wet areas with a considered, light touch.

The Result

A home that has been genuinely opened up — in every sense. More light, more space, more connection between rooms, and bathrooms that have been transformed from tired and dated into modern, beautiful spaces that are a pleasure to be in every day.
