The Brief
What began as a kitchen renovation quickly revealed itself to be something much more expansive. This Brighton project saw Axis Kitchens deliver custom cabinetry and joinery across the entire home — kitchen, kids study, downstairs study, powder room, vanities, and master walk-in robe — all designed to work together as a cohesive whole while giving each space its own distinct character. Working with builder Tealcon Pty Ltd, the result is a home that feels considered from top to bottom.
The Design
The kitchen sets the tone for the whole home. Polytec Classic White Matt cabinetry provides a clean, timeless foundation, punctuated by Polytec Black Matt feature elements that add depth and contemporary contrast. Beval & Rail design handles run throughout the kitchen, and Quantum Quartz Statuario benchtops bring a refined marble-look surface to the space. Concealed Hafele twin bins and LED lighting keep the kitchen functional and uncluttered — details that reward daily use as much as they reward the eye.
The kids study takes a warmer direction with 18mm Polytec Natural Oak Ravine doors — a rich, textured timber finish that gives the room personality and a sense of calm. Polytec Classic White Matt open shelves keep things bright and practical, with Hafele LED lighting and 33mm Classic White Matt laminate benchtops completing a space that's as functional as it is inviting for young learners.
The downstairs study is where one of the renovation's most personal details appears. Both the floating shelf and benchtop were custom made using the clients' own timber floors — a decision that creates a seamless, deeply considered connection between the joinery and the home it sits within. Beval & Rail handles and Hafele LED lighting complete a study that feels both purposeful and warm.
The powder room is quietly elegant: Polytec Classic White Matt doors with a front overhang handle detail and a 33mm Formica Refined Oak laminate benchtop — understated, practical, and entirely in keeping with the home's broader aesthetic.
The vanities and master walk-in robe represent the renovation's most premium finish. 19mm American Oak horizontal grain timber veneer doors in 30% gloss clear are rich, tactile, and beautifully suited to a master suite environment. Caesarstone Fresh Concrete benchtops in 20mm provide a cool, sophisticated counterpoint to the warmth of the oak, and concealed Hafele LED lighting completes the spaces with a soft, considered glow. Blum drawers and hinges were specified throughout the entire home — a quiet but important detail that ensures every drawer and door operates with the precision and longevity the quality of the finishes deserves.
The Result
A home transformed from the inside out. Every room in this Brighton renovation tells the same story — carefully chosen materials, considered details, and a design intelligence that connects every space without making them feel the same. We are grateful to have played a part in creating a home this family will enjoy for many years to come.
