The Brief
Not every kitchen wants to be bright and white. This Heathmont kitchen and pantry renovation was always going to go in a different direction — darker, richer, and more considered in its mood. The result is a space that feels sophisticated and calm, with a material palette that rewards time spent in it and photographs that stop you in your tracks.
The Design
Polytec Cinder Matt cabinetry sets the tone immediately. It's a deep, warm grey with a matte finish that absorbs light rather than reflecting it — giving the kitchen a grounded, almost tactile quality that feels genuinely different from the bright white kitchens that dominate the market. It's a confident choice, and one that pays off completely.
Caesarstone Raw Concrete benchtops in a generous 40mm profile reinforce the palette's industrial-inspired sophistication. Raw Concrete is a stone surface with real character — its subtle variation and texture sitting beautifully alongside the Cinder Matt cabinetry, the two materials sharing a tonal family while each bringing their own distinct quality to the space. The 40mm edge profile adds a sense of substance and solidity that the design both warrants and rewards.
The splashback brings the final and perhaps most distinctive element: Tavola Impianto tiles in a 75mm x 150mm format from Perini Tiles. A refined, elongated tile that adds texture and rhythm to the wall surface without competing with the calm authority of the cabinetry and benchtops. It's a detail that elevates the kitchen from well-resolved to genuinely designed.
The pantry extends the same material palette, maintaining the cohesion of the renovation and ensuring the transition between the two spaces feels seamless and intentional.
The Result
A kitchen that knows exactly what it is — and commits to it completely. Dark, sophisticated, and full of considered detail, this Heathmont kitchen and pantry renovation is a beautiful example of what happens when a designer and client share a clear vision and have the courage to see it through. One of the most striking kitchens in the Axis Kitchens portfolio.
