Kitchen / Laundry Renovation Project

From the outset this renovation was a little different to the ‘normal’ as my The Basin clients had planned to retain one half of their existing galley style kitchen which already housed their fridge, wall oven + microwave tower and double pantry space.  Also with their laundry space basically adjoining the kitchen area and using this space for the majority of their cleaning the design brief was to create more bench & preparation space within the kitchen.  With this in mind the decision was to reduce the kitchen sink to a single bowl and also the electric hotplate to a 600mm wide unit.

The above appliance changes and by removing the raised servery so we could extend the new Stone Ambassador stone benchtop through gave our clients more usable bench space along with some seating space in the kitchen.  With the addition of their beverage centre which also gave them more preparation space to the right of their new hotplate we decided to slightly extend the existing nib wall to give additional overhead storage and space for a power outlet to the main preparation area but ensuring there was still enough space for 2 – 3 stools at the back of the kitchen and not to interrupt the view through to their dining and outdoor area.

Seen as the laundry was so close to the kitchen and also functioned as part of their kitchen space we continued the same design features and finishes through into this room which now feels a little like a Butler’s Pantry to the main kitchen.
