Whole House Renovation Hampton
Melbourne Whole House Renovation: Hampton
Project – Whole House Renovation
Suburb – Hampton
Designer – Chris Wing Shing
Builder – Qestbuild
The Brief
Some projects are defined by their scale, and this Hampton whole-house renovation is one of them. Undertaken by the team at Qestbuild, the scope encompassed a complete renovation and extension of the entire property — inside and out — with Axis Kitchens responsible for the custom joinery and cabinetry throughout. Kitchen, pantry, laundry, cellar, vanities, robes, and a pool house kitchen: every joinery element in the home, delivered as a single cohesive body of work.
The Design
With so many spaces to consider, the design challenge was to create a unified material language that could flex across very different rooms — from the kitchen and pantry at the heart of the home to the cellar, robes, and pool house — while giving each space its own distinct character.
The solution was elegant in its consistency: 30% satin polyurethane throughout the entire home, with door profiles and colours doing the work of differentiation. The kitchen, pantry, and laundry are finished in Tesrol Design 575 doors in Dulux Vivid White, with feature capping and skirting in the same profile and finish — crisp, classic, and beautifully resolved. Castella Chelsea handles and knobs in Brass complete these spaces with a warm metallic accent that lifts the white joinery without overpowering it.
The cellar takes a dramatically different direction. The same Tesrol Design 575 door profile is retained for continuity, but finished in Dulux Black satin polyurethane — a bold, considered choice that gives the cellar its own atmosphere and sense of occasion. Castella Chelsea hardware in Matt Black maintains the handle family while shifting the mood entirely.
The vanities and pool house kitchen introduce British Paints Mineral Salt alongside Dulux Vivid White, rendered in the Tesrol Design 438 profile — a softer, more refined door that suits the bathroom and entertaining spaces beautifully. The robes complete the palette with Dulux Natural White in the same 438 profile, providing a warm, understated finish to the home's private spaces.
Natural stone benchtops run throughout — kitchen, pantry, laundry, cellar, and vanities — selected and installed separately to complement the joinery at every turn.
The Result
A home transformed from the ground up. The breadth of this Hampton renovation — extension works, full interior renovation, and a complete suite of custom joinery across every room — makes it one of the most expansive projects the Axis Kitchens team has been part of. With the final details being installed and the handover imminent, we can't wait to see these spaces again once fully furnished and lived in.
