The Project

Every project has its obstacles and limitations and this certainly was the case for our clients in Ferntree Gully with the old brick chimney in the middle of the kitchen (which was too much to have removed) and also needing to work with our clients existing full sized upright stove that they’d recently had replaced and not being able to increase the footprint of the kitchen space.

Going against the trend we’d decided to remove the island bench that they currently had and re-design the space with a more traditional ‘U’ shaped kitchen giving us the ability to use the blank wall opposing the stove area.  Being a family home it was important to give access to other family members to come into the kitchen space to access things like the fridge, pantry and appliance niche for making a coffee or snack without interrupting the ‘Chef’ which always occurred in their old kitchen.

Strangely the kitchen space now feels more open than the old with its island bench and everything now has a home or space is less cluttered.  Finished off with our clients choice of appliances, beautiful gloss black embossed splashback tile and feature lighting the kitchen feels both homely but also a real statement when entering the home.  We wish them many happy years with their new kitchen.
